Many people don’t realize that there are warm blues and cool blues. They think that blue is automatically a cool color, but this is not necessarily the case. While it is true that pure blue on the color chart is a cool color, how a blue is tinted will make the determination of warm v. blue.
Warm blues often remind me of a cloudy summer sky. Kind of dusky. (They have more gray and yellow in them.)
Cool blues are bright and happy and energizing, often leaning a little to the side of purple like a powder blue or a cornflower blue.
Warm colors are very popular right now in main living spaces. Think Gustavian.....They feel soothing and calming.
I do put cool blues in bathrooms and kids rooms where people are sometimes more comfortable with more energy.
