I have exciting news to share with you all.
One project we are working on will be featured in This Old House®.
It involves a renovation of an 1897 Shingle-style home in Newton. Design plans are underway to update the home's interior and exterior to meet the needs of modern-day living. We'll rework the cramped, galley-style kitchen to provide an open floor plan with views into the adjoining family room and new mudroom, and a master suite will be created with a walk-in closet and full bathroom. On the exterior, the backyard which currently consists of a gradual downward slope will be regraded to maximize usable outdoor space, including a grassy area for outdoor play. The kitchen and the mudroom will each lead to a brand new porch and terrace with built-in seating. Both outdoor sitting areas will provide wonderful dining and entertaining spaces.
So far so good! The house, the homeowners, the design team (architect Treff Lafleche/ project manager Stephanie Morrison and landscape architect Stephanie Hubbard along with the This Old House Crew) have all been really wonderful to work with. The permit has been pulled and as of yesterday, demolition was scheduled for today, so we are full steam ahead.
